The 2017 Manufacturing Awards

Minnesota's manufacturing industry has a long history of excellence. Each year, Minnesota Business magazine recognizes the outstanding achievements of this vital, though often behind-the-scenes industry and its leaders. Winners and finalists will be honored in the feature story of an all-manufacturing issue of Minnesota Business and celebrated at an awards event.

Categories

Best In Class – Small

Recognizes a small company for overall excellence in the manufacturing industry in Minnesota. Small is 10-50 employees. 

Best In Class – Mid-size

Recognizes a mid-size company for overall excellence in the manufacturing industry in Minnesota. Mid-size is 51-250 employees.

Best In Class – Large

Recognizes a large company for overall excellence in the manufacturing industry in Minnesota. Large is 250+ employees.

Sustainability / Sustainable Product

Recognizes manufacturers for successfully developing, adapting, or modifying production processes or a specific product to be more harmonious with the environment.

Best New Product – Food & Beverage

Awarded to a Minnesota manufacturer that developed an excellent new food or beverage product (three years old or less) that excels in taste, flavor, integrity of ingredients and overall aesthetic appeal.

Best New Product – Textiles & Clothing

Awarded to a Minnesota manufacturer that developed a new textile product (three years old or less), either clothing or non-clothing, that excels in design, and aesthetic appeal and/or superior technical applications. 

Best New Product – Agriculture

Awarded to a Minnesota manufacturer that developed a new product (three years old or less) that is primarily used in agribusiness that excels in its design, ease of application, utility, functionality and overall satisfaction.

Best New Product Design

Awarded to a Minnesota manufacturer that developed a new product (three years old or less) for industrial or consumer applications (other than textiles/clothing, food/ beverage and agriculture) that excels in its design, ease of application, efficiency, user experience, aesthetic appeal/elegance and overall satisfaction.

Best Startup

Awarded to a promising new manufacturer (five years old or less) in any area that exhibits ingenuity, early growth, an eye for scalability and potential for making an impact in the industry.

 

Supply Chain Excellence Award

Recognizes a manufacturing company that demonstrates excellence, efficiency and creativity in the development and operation of an integrated supply chain, either within a company or in partnership with other companies. 

Workforce Development Award

Recognizes a manufacturing company for innovation and excellence in 1) talent recruitment practices, such as developing relationships with technical colleges and other organizations, offering internships, scholarships, apprenticeships, etc. 2) efforts to enhance retainment through training programs, employee recognition programs, etc. and 3) enhancing the image of the industry through open houses, publicity campaigns etc.

Executive of the Year

Awarded to an individual who has made major accomplishments in Minnesota’s manufacturing industry in the last few years. The nominee should have at least five years of executive leadership experience in manufacturing.

Emerging Leader

Awarded to an individual who has entered a leadership role within the past five years, made significant accomplishments and appears poised for further success.

Lifetime Achievement

Awarded to an individual who has displayed a lifetime of excellence and made major contributions to Minnesota’s manufacturing industry over the past 20 years.
