Jolliet House is now open for lunch in former Basil's space in IDS Center

Downtown dwellers, rejoice: Lunch is in at Jolliet House, located in the former Basil’s space in the IDS Center. Opened originally as a breakfast-only spot, the addition of a lunch menu came as Marquette Hotel wrapped up a $25 million renovation. Updates included opening up the restaurant’s terrace, fresh paint and architectural details that mimic the splendor of the Crystal Court.   

Chef Chris Blackwell, a relative newcomer to the MSP restaurant scene, has designed the menu with both hotel guest and office worker in mind. "As we're looking to capture that lunch crowd, primarily from businesses all around us, I'm looking at that comfort food—you're having a stressful day, so what is that thing that you're thinking of that's going to help you escape for 30 minutes," he said.  

Diners can choose from a range of upscale American dishes, from sandwiches to salmon fillets, and of course there’s always dessert (this writer recommends the bread pudding). The build-your-own salad bar is also a nice touch, harkening back the Macy’s Sky Room days, which was just a stone’s throw (or hat toss) away from IDS.  

Names carry a certain amount of significance at Jolliet House, which is a reference to 17th century French explorer Louis Jolliet who was a friend of Jaques Marquette, the namesake of the hotel.  Keen eyes will also notice the "Mary Tyler Moore Table" is now gone and instead, the whole balcony is named after the actress.  
 
Jolliet House is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for breakfast and lunch and brunch is available on the Sundays, which offers signature cocktails and live music.

Breakfast available Monday – Sunday from 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lunch available Monday – Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Brunch available Sunday from 10:30am - 2:00 p.m.
