MSP Impact Hub puts entrepreneurs in the spotlight
Danielle Steer, manager of the MSP Impact Hub, really likes the word hustle.
“To me, it’s a combination of the elements of success—grit, hard work, drive, determination, dedication. It’s all those things wrapped into one word,” she says.
The term is tagging the Impact Hub’s March 9 event at the Muse Event Center in the North Loop in Minneapolis. It aims to highlight the hustle of what it calls the region’s ’most innovative and inspiring’ entrepreneurs.
Called Werk It: Showcasing That Hustle, the evening will allow the 30 high profile founders and dreamers behind the Minnesota startups to share their stories via a celebratory runway show.
“We want to demonstrate, elevate and celebrate the diversity of businesses and social enterprises that are growing and building in the Twin Cities,” Steer adds. “We have such great examples of people doing really creative work.”
The entrepreneurs who will be highlighted represent various fields, including food and health, technology, energy and environment, community building, creativity, and youth services.
“We think we can break down the silos by bringing together a cross section of these sectors,” Steer says.
Featured among the 30 inspiring entrepreneurs will be Eric Sannerud, cofounder of Mighty Axe Hops; Fatima Hussein, cofounder of Asiya Sport; Amanda LaGrange, CEO of Tech Dump and Tech Discounts and Jasmine Russell, cofounder of Monicat Data.
“One of our core values at Impact Hub is to facilitate meaningful connections, including the serendipitous introductions of people who might not otherwise intersect. We think this will be a time for many of those conversations,” Steer predicts.
“We think the strong ecosystem in the Twin Cities can be strengthened by connections that come at a peer-based social event.”
Steer anticipates that 300 attendees will take part in the event. General admission tickets are $30, with the VIP admission, which includes reserved seating, valet parking, and one drink, is priced at $50 per ticket.
Emcees for the event are John Gebratatose of Blackout Improv and Nausheena Hussain from Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment.
