Southeast Minnesota’s entrepreneur community is getting a big boost this spring with Ignite Cup, a new annual startup competition that “is open to all entrepreneurs, investors and community members who are focused on launching a startup and want to pitch their idea to an experienced panel,” according to a release from Ignite Cup. Starting today, March 21, MN Cup is accepting applications for its twelfth annual startup competition. This year's pool of prize money is $400,000. The competition is open to entrepreneurs, researchers, inventors and small business owners working on a new business venture, as well as pre-existing businesses that have a yearly revenue of less than $1 million. Each year, the Minnesota Cup receives hundreds of breakthrough ideas from across Minnesota. Since 2005, the competition has supported more than 10,000 entrepreneurs from 79 counties.
