phData Lands Funding With Anthropic’s Participation

Modern enterprise team using AI analytics dashboards

Minneapolis-based data and AI consulting firm phData says it has secured a new round of funding from existing investor Gryphon Investors, with participation from artificial intelligence company Anthropic.

The funding will be used to expand its workforce by more than 30 percent and broaden services aimed at helping organizations build AI-ready data environments and deploy Anthropic’s Claude AI platform in production settings. Financial terms were not disclosed.

As part of the expansion, phData plans to add 300-plus data and AI experts while growing service offerings focused on enterprise AI adoption. The company currently employs more than 900 people across the United States, Latin America and India.

The announcement builds on San Francisco-based Gryphon Investors’ majority growth recapitalization of phData completed in December 2024. At the time, Gryphon cited phData’s position as one of the largest pure-play data engineering companies globally and said the investment would support the company’s continued expansion in AI and data services. CEO Ryan Bosshart and others on the management team retained a significant equity stake in phData.

Founded in 2014, phData’s services include data engineering, AI and machine learning, analytics and visualization. It says it serves the world’s top brands in the financial services, manufacturing, healthcare & life sciences, and retail & CPG industries.
